We often get asked about pricing.
Read below how we price jobs, what we consider our strengths, plus important points to consider.
At PD Electrical we take pride in being competitive and value for money. We realise there are multiple providers out there, at varying price levels. Below are some points to consider when comparing us to the rest.
We employ a team of full-time, fully-qualified electricians. While “one-man-band” self-employed electricians may be cheaper on price, it can be hard for them to effectively deliver the full range of services that customers rightly expect.
Paperwork and Certificates
A good system must be in place to ensure regular and timely follow-ups take place. This relies on a well-maintained, secure database of customers. Paperwork can fall behind due to time pressure – this may mean your certificates may not get delivered to you or worse the Part P registration may get missed entirely. As a customer you may not even be aware of this until the day you need to locate these vital documents (e.g. house sale).
Scheduling and Timekeeping
Self-employed electricians often find it difficult to manage their schedules with unexpected issues often creating delays and disappointed customers who have to wait around.
Larger companies than ours are often have similar issues when it comes to the delivery of service – one minute Sarah is dealing with your case, then next time it is Tom who is none the wiser. All the while it is the you the customer who pays more for their overhead costs.
Fixed, Fair Pricing
We are up-front about our prices which are fixed for your peace of mind. We firmly believe that we have the right systems and the right pricing to deliver everything expected within a reasonable time frame, with no compromise.
Since we are VAT registered, we are required to charge VAT on all our work, and unfortunately, cash payments are not an option as we must process everything officially through the Limited Company structure.
We may quote a project price or a day rate. This rate covers not just the engineer’s time on-site, but also includes travel cost and overheads, the use of tools and equipment, and the necessary certifications and documentation required for a professional and compliant installation.
Additionally, this rate factors in the quality of service we provide, including our commitment to safety and adherence to all current regulations. You will also benefit from a guaranteed start date once the deposit has been paid, along with a calendar link for the start date sent via email. We offer an on-time promise, project management throughout the duration of the work, and full certification for any and all works completed, ensuring compliance and peace of mind.
Furthermore, we provide regular updates on progress by email or text, and, if applicable, Part P notification for the work done, we are committed to responding to any queries within a reasonable time frame, usually reply to emails the same day.
To add more value, you’ll receive our certificate guarantee, and we can ensure power to essential appliances while work is carried out if you need. You’ll also be eligible for our VIP Protection Plus Membership as an optional upgrade.
You will have direct access to me, Paul, and you can rest assured knowing that our prices are clear with no hidden fees, fully insured, and backed by highly positive reviews on Google, Checkatrade, and MyBuilder. All work is fully certified and carried out by local, qualified workers under my supervision, no apprentices.
We are committed to honest appraisals and reports, a full quality promise, and ensuring your property is protected during work by covering furniture and floors, as well as disposing of any rubbish afterward. We are also registered with the NICEIC for electrical safety under registration number D113341.
We are not the cheapest electrical company but we strive to be the best and our growing customer base and all positive Google Reviews are testament to this.
Thank you for considering PD Electrical. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you and demonstrate the value and quality that our team brings to every project.
We have a team of electricians which means we have the ability to give the reliability customers deserve and are looking for.
Our systems ensure nothing gets missed, certification and other paperwork is important for our customers in terms of insurance and house sales.
We do not compromise on the quality of the materials nor the labour needed. We use only industry-recognised quality brands for our materials and will always be willing to state the brands used on any quotes.
We give clear fixed itemised prices wherever possible for your peace of mind and so you can budget. There are no hidden fees to try and catch you out.
We always try to be responsive and available to our customers. We answer emails and phone calls the same day and settle any issues as soon as possible by booking everything into the calendar.
If you have an issue with anything we will come back and fix it under warranty, quibble-free. We have both mobile and landline phone numbers and registered offices you can visit.
Costs depend on the complexity, materials, and time required for your project. The two main costs could be categorised as labour and materials.
Our prices are fixed once quoted – ensuring no hidden fees. We always aim to carry out a site survey.
No, our quotes are completely free and provided without any obligation to proceed on them.
We accept bank transfers, cheques and cash – most client now use BACS. We don’t use a card machine and also discourage cash (for our and the customers protection).
Yes, all our prices include VAT. If we price to a end user/consumer/homeowner we always include VAT. If we quote to business we use ex-VAT prices, but either way it will always be clear on any quote.
We often provide discounts for repeat customers and referrals as a thank you. We also sometimes hand out yellow books with discount vouchers that customers can take advantage of.
To secure the booking slot for your electrical project we usually take a 50% deposit upfront and invoice the rest on completion. For solar installations we would take a 25% deposit upfront and stage payments for the remainder.
It is important to compare prices and offers that electricians provide. Skills, qualifications and service can vary – for example a “one-man-band” type outfit may be cheaper, but may also be too busy to fit jobs in. They may also be limited to basic installations, whereas a company with more engineers can offer a wider range of services. Do be aware that some electricians are qualified and accredited for services such as solar, battery storage or EV chargers, while other electricians are not.
We prefer to always give clear fixed prices wherever possible, sometimes we have to give estimates for things like fault finding. Customers can better budget with fixed prices.
Yes 🙂 we attend clients property carry out surveys and quotes for free. We also carry out Home Safety Checks and offer advice on appropriate upgrades and improvements which is also free. We are always happy to answer any customer questions for free too.
In most cases we are carrying out planned works – so we will attend, inspect, quote and plan works in the diary. However for callouts we have a basic minimum charge of £150 inc VAT which covers the time to rectify an issue, for example if the power has tripped. We have different rates for out-of-hours or emergency situations.
The cost can vary, however for a standard home with one consumer unit you can expect to pay around £360 inc VAT. This usually takes about half a day.
One great way to save money in the long term is to ensure the job is done right first time. Having a reputable electrician carry out the works instead of attempting work yourself is a method of saving money.
